How to Nominate

Five classes – Best Restaurant, Best Dining Pub, Best Local, Best Café or Tearoom, Best Independent Food Shop – will be nominated by readers on line and by post. The top three establishments with the most nominations in each of these classes will be judged by the sponsors and the winner announced at the awards on 30th August.

Entries for the Innovation Award will come from the producers and/or companies and will be judged by Andy Dike of Dike and Son and Clair Pengilly, Commercial Director of Blackmore Vale Media. There are no reader nominations for this class. Entries must be a minimum of 100 words.

Best Dorset Recipe will be judged by the sponsors, Dorset Farmers’ Market. There are no reader nominations for this class.

Grow Your Own – Dorset’s Best Community Garden, Orchard Allotment, Garden with vegetable patch or window box will be selected from entries and will be judged by sponsor Michael Burks of The Gardens Group. There are no reader nominations for this class.

The Outstanding Contribution to Food in Dorset is open to anyone to nominate – readers, customers or producers/businesses to nominate themselves. All nominations for this class should include a statement why the nominee deserves the award, in not more than 150 words.

For the remaining classes - Best Dorset Drink and Best Dorset Food Product, entries are invited from the food producers, retailers, farm shops and businesses themselves. The Judges will whittle down the nominations to the top three in each category with the winner being announced on 30th August.

There is a full list of the classes on the website with details of the criteria, which classes are open for reader nomination, which classes are nominated by food producers, and which classes you, the readers, will get a chance to vote on.
